Day 2 - Tulum update

The rest of the team are all back together in Tulum. We are crashing in a hostel as it was too dark to look for a place to camp. We had a well deserved meal of cheese burgers and fried chicken for fuel for the big ride tomorrow.

We are not sure what Jen and Ryan have decided to do. They texted us not to wait for them as they are dropping out. We haven't received any more texts from them since the last one. We expect to find them waiting for us in Belize unless they have decided to just stay in Mexico. We will let you know if we hear more.

Today was very hot. Doug had a crash... He ended up in the bottom of a trench on a section of highway that was under construction. The only thing injured was his pride and he cut up his knee.

Last night Roger had a crash on his way home from the bar. Too many Cervezas I think. His bike is a bit messed up but working good enough. Road rash to his knee, ankle and hands.

Kerry cut his thumb with an exacto knife. Lots of blood everywhere and he painted the campground bathroom very well, but he will live.

There seems to be some concern from the slower of the team that Kerry and Roger have led the pack significantly. On the upside, they were scouting the road ahead for safe passage for all.

Tomorrows itinerary has us riding 95 kms to Felipe Carrillo Puerto.

Hope you guys brought a decent first aid kit. There's nothing like getting a bizzare tropical bacterial infection from wounds sustained from a cerveza-induced wreck. At least it sounds like the excitement level has been high so far.
